Job Purpose: To identify and pursue new business opportunities within the public and academic library sectors by building strong client relationships and driving revenue growth through strategic planning, partnerships, and effective sales execution. The BDM will work closely with the marketing department and CRM manager to ensure sales growth targets are achieved.
Key Responsibilities: Identify and generate new leads through market research, networking, and outreach (calls, emails, meetings, social media channels)
Develop and maintain relationships with prospective and existing clients to expand business growth opportunities
Understand prospects needs and tailor solutions to match their library objectives
Prepare and deliver pitches, proposals, presentations and product demonstrations to clients
Negotiate and close contracts to meet or exceed forecast revenue targets
Collaborate with marketing and product teams to align on campaigns and product offerings
Maintain accurate records in the CRM system and provide regular sales forecasts and pipeline updates to the VP sales
Attend industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to build brand awareness and partnerships
Analyze market trends and competitor activity to identify new growth opportunities
Required Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or related field
3–5 years of proven experience in business development, sales, or account management
Demonstrated success in achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth
Experience with Salesforce or alternative CRM
Experience selling software solutions
Experience delivering live software demonstrations
Experience presenting software solutions to prospective senior key stakeholders
Key Skills & Competencies: Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Strong business acumen and strategic thinking
Proactive, self-motivated, and results-oriented
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong presentation and proposal writing skills
High level of professionalism and integrity
