Position Summary
We are seeking a Business Development Sales Engineer to join our Engineered Extrusions team. This role is critical in driving business growth by identifying new opportunities, estimating complex fabrication projects, and supporting customers through the quoting and product launch process. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background in aluminum extrusion and fabrication processes such as CNC machining, stamping, forming, and assembly.

Qualification
- Collaborate with customers and MMG Sales Representatives to gather technical and commercial requirements.
- Conduct strategic assessments to determine fit with MMG’s extrusion and fabrication capabilities.
- Review CAD files and drawings to extract relevant data for quoting and feasibility analysis.
- Ensure customer expectations and engineering standards are clearly defined and documented.
- Determine appropriate proposal type:
- Budgetary Estimate: For early-stage or non-strategic opportunities.
- Firm Proposal: Includes full feasibility review and detailed cost breakdown.
- Lead technical reviews with internal stakeholders to define optimal manufacturing processes.
- Develop cost-based estimates for extruded and fabricated components, including tooling, labor, materials, and overhead.
- Collaborate with value stream leaders and approved suppliers to validate feasibility and finalize pricing.
- Interpret engineering drawings and CAD data to develop process flows for extrusion and fabrication.
- Coordinate feasibility reviews with representatives from extrusion, fabrication, machining, and quality.
- Identify tooling, equipment, gauges, and materials required for production.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with tooling and component suppliers.
- Maintain a centralized database of quote details, win/loss metrics, and performance indicators.
- Act as the customer advocate throughout the quoting and launch process.
- Conduct contract reviews and initiate MMG’s New Product Introduction (NPI) process upon order award.
- Coordinate with Engineering and Operations to ensure successful first production runs.
- Resolve discrepancies between quote and purchase order and communicate pricing to Inside Sales.
- Manage cross-functional projects related to new product development, tooling, and equipment acquisition.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in estimating and quoting processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or Supply Chain Management preferred.
- Relevant experience in aluminum extrusion and fabrication (cutting, machining, stamping, bending, assembly).
- Experience in quoting/estimating in a manufacturing environment required.
- Strong communication skills across technical and commercial audiences.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and ERP systems (e.g., JobBoss, Epics).
- Experience with 2D/3D CAD systems (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) or willingness to learn.
