Job Summary
The CT Technologist I plays a pivotal role in providing exceptional care by operating advanced CT equipment to deliver high-quality diagnostic images. This position is key to ensuring patient safety, comfort, and adherence to established clinical protocols. Primary responsibilities include preparing and positioning patients, maintaining equipment, and collaborating with radiologists and healthcare professionals to ensure precise and timely diagnostic outcomes. Essential Functions
Operate CT equipment and processing systems, producing clear diagnostic images while ensuring compliance with departmental standards.
Prepare and position patients for CT procedures using appropriate techniques to guarantee comfort and safety.
Verify patient identification, confirm physician orders, and screen for any contraindications prior to examinations.
Clearly explain procedures to patients, addressing any questions or concerns to mitigate anxiety.
Work in collaboration with radiologists and the healthcare team to promote accurate and timely patient care.
Evaluate images for technical accuracy and discuss findings with radiologists as needed.
Conduct routine quality control checks on CT equipment, reporting any discrepancies to ensure optimal performance.
Document patient histories and correlate them with imaging studies to assist in diagnostic interpretations.
Follow all safety protocols, including the use of protective gear and compliance with infection control guidelines.
Perform additional duties as necessary and comply with all established policies.
Qualifications
1-2 years of clinical experience from an accredited radiologic sciences program required.
Preferred: 2-4 years as a Computed Tomography Technologist in an acute care hospital setting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Expertise in operating CT equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic outcomes.
Ability to adhere to established protocols while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
Skill in preparing and positioning patients effectively, incorporating necessary transfer techniques.
Competence in maintaining CT equipment and ensuring accurate functionality.
Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with radiologists and healthcare teams.
Familiarity with aseptic, surgical, and radiologic techniques.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients, families, and colleagues.
Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and delivering precise results autonomously.
Detail-oriented and highly organized, ensuring comprehensive documentation and quality imaging.
Licenses and Certifications
State-required Licensed Radiologic Technologist.
Preferred: (R) ARDMS or ARRT - Radiographer.
CT certification or eligibility within six months of hire required.
BCLS - Basic Life Support certification within 90 days of hire required.
