Scope of Position
Report directly to the Director of Sales. Responsible for promoting and selling available tee times and rooms to groups and tournaments while maximizing revenue opportunities for the property. Promotes golf merchandise, services, and events.
Requirements
A minimum of 5 years related experience in a golf course or resort environment.
A minimum of 5 years Golf Sales in a large complex/luxury property preferred.
College degree or equivalent degree required.
Must possess outstanding guest services skills, professional presentation and communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a busy, fast-paced team environment as well as work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
Exceptional organization, attention to detail and strong ability to follow-up.
Responsibilities
Proactive and reactive sales to new and existing accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals through various avenues including but not limited to telephone solicitation and outside sales calls.
Coordinates group events from the initial planning stages until the completion of the event.
Works with customers to promote event, sell logo merchandise and other golf services.
Communicate to Department Managers (Golf, Food and Beverage, Lodging, Maintenance, etc.) of future events to: ensure proper staffing levels are met, coordinate inter-departmental support, and ensure proper coordination of special set-up, accommodations, or other arrangements.
Participates in site visits to promote Golf amenities.
Actively participate in daily briefings and meetings.
Develops contacts with area corporate, local businesses, civic organizations, and charity groups to promote our tournament venues.
Develops relationships with key golf wholesale accounts.
Ensures group information files are maintained efficiently and accurately.
Maintains thorough understanding of golf operations, course rotation, tournament play, and tee time arrangement as well as resort operation
Monitors business volume forecast and plans accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses
Any other reasonable duties as required by management.
Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate in the English language (Second language is a plus).
Experience using software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Knowledge of proper chemical handling, cleaning techniques and use of equipment/machinery.
Ability to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends.
Able to perform multiple tasks.
Able to travel to attend trade shows and industry events
Physical Requirements
On a continuous basis, sit at a desk for long periods of time in front of a computer screen.
Intermittently twist to reach equipment or supplies surrounding desk.
Perform simple grasping and fine manipulation.
Use telephone and computer keyboard on a daily basis.
Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
