Internet Sales Consultant

Responsible for managing and converting all internet and digital leads (chat, email, social, third‑party marketplaces) into showroom appointments and retail vehicle sales.
Acts as the dealership’s digital front door, delivering timely, accurate, and Ford‑brand‑consistent customer experiences.
Primary responsibilities
Respond to inbound internet leads (EDMs, OEM leads, third‑party leads, website forms) quickly — phone + email + chat follow-up.
Qualify prospects, present vehicle options, arrange test drives/appointments, and close sales either in‑store or via digital retailing tools.
Maintain and nurture lead pipeline using the dealership CRM; log all activity and follow‑up notes accurately and promptly.
Use live chat and texting platforms to engage customers in real time and convert conversations to store appointments or home delivery.
Deliver product knowledge and online demonstrations of Ford vehicles, trim levels, features, and packages.
Present and explain finance, lease, trade, and warranty options in coordination with the Finance & Insurance (F&I) team.
Coordinate with sales, internet manager, sales leadership, and service to ensure seamless customer delivery and follow‑through.
Meet or exceed KPI targets for lead response time, appointment conversion, lead‑to‑sale conversion, and closing ratio.
Maintain compliance with dealership policies, state and federal regulations, and Ford corporate standards for consumer communications and advertising.
Attend training on Ford digital retail tools, inventory feeds, and CRM updates.
Required qualifications (must-haves)
Proven retail or automotive sales experience (1–3+ years preferred); prior internet sales experience strongly preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; professional phone presence and quick typing/chat skills.
Comfortable with technology: CRM systems, DMS basics, live chat apps, text/SMS platforms, digital retailing tools, Microsoft Office.
Ability to respond to leads within defined targets (e.g., initial response within 15 minutes during business hours).
Customer‑first attitude; strong follow‑up, organization, and time management skills.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree preferred.
Preferred qualifications
Experience with dealer-specific CRMs (e.g., Tekion, VinSolutions, Elead) and digital retail platforms.
Prior experience selling Ford vehicles or working at a Ford dealership.
Familiar with F&I processes, trade valuation tools (KBB, Black Book), and inventory management.
Experience with social media lead generation and online advertising platforms.
Performance metrics / KPIs
Average lead response time (target: Appointment conversion rate from internet leads (target per dealership standard).
Lead‑to‑sale conversion rate.
Number of internet‑originated units sold per month.
Follow‑up activity (calls/texts/emails per lead within set timeframes).
Customer satisfaction/review scores from the internet leads.
Compensation and benefits
Base salary + commission/bonus per unit sold or flat commission per internet sale.
Additional monthly or quarterly bonuses for hitting KPIs.

Typical schedule: Monday–Saturday with rotating shifts; ability to work evenings for extended online coverage.
Training / ramp-up expectations
Dealer onboarding for DMS, CRM, chat, and digital retail tools.
Product training on current Ford lineup and vehicle features.
Shadowing senior internet consultants and sales managers for 1–4 weeks.
Expect initial ramp of 30–90 days to reach full quota.
Requirements:
Automotive sales background preferred
Excellent customer service, organizational and negotiation skills
Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and enthusiastic presence in a team environment
Strong written and communication skills
Valid driver's license required and clean driving record
Ability to pass a background check and drug test
