Marriott Indianapolis East - Area Director Sales & Marketing at Aimbridge Hospitality. The Director of Sales & Marketing-Full Service has direct oversight of planning and managing the overall sales and marketing for two or more Full Service hotels. The role aims to achieve optimal occupancy, growth in existing accounts, and generating new business to maximize total revenue and meet/exceed hotel profit objectives. It oversees day-to-day operations of the hotels' sales division including direct sales efforts, follow-up, and proper sales administration and training. The role recommends the sales forecast, marketing, advertising, sales plans, programs and annual budgets for two or more Full Service hotels and manages within approved plans and budgets. Management-level associates are expected to work as much of each workday as necessary to complete responsibilities. Overtime and exempt status apply per policy. Primary duties must consist of administrative, executive, or professional tasks more than 50 percent of the time and require discretion and independent judgement more than 50 percent of the time. Responsibilities
Coordinate all group, transient, and catering sales solicitations and bookings to maximize overall revenue. Develop, recommend, implement and manage the division's annual budget and the advertising, public relations marketing and sales plans and programs for the hotel to maximize rate, occupancy and food & beverage opportunities, ensuring the hotel meets or exceeds revenue/profit goals. Proactively conduct outside sales calls, sales tours and entertain clients. Understand contracts and negotiate terms therein. Develop and maintain market awareness to predict revenue opportunities and set proactive strategies. Monitor production of top accounts and evaluate market trends. Adhere to Aimbridge Hospitality's regulations, standards and sales metrics. Achieve individual and team goals and budgeted metrics. Train hotel staff to recognize and capitalize on sales opportunities to increase occupancy and revenue. Manage Human Resources in the division to attract, retain and motivate employees; hire, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel; conduct performance and salary reviews; resolve problems; communicate openly; discipline and terminate as appropriate. Supervise Catering & Event Management (as applicable) to meet or exceed budgets for Catering, F&B and Meeting Room rentals. Develop knowledge of hotel operations and policies across Sales, F&B, Front Office and Reservations. Maintain strong visibility in the local community and industry organizations. Attend and/or conduct regular meetings and provide training on a rotational basis. Maintain effective relationships with marketing partners and internal departments to achieve initiatives. Travel weekly as required. Act on behalf of the General Manager in their absence as directed. Qualifications
At least 6 years of progressive hotel sales experience preferred; or a 4-year college degree with at least 2 years of related experience; or a 2-year college degree with at least 4 years of related experience. Valid driver’s license in the applicable state. Highly developed verbal & written communication skills for negotiating, selling and influencing managerial personnel, guests and corporate clients. Thorough experience with professional selling skills: opening, probing, supporting, closing. Strong analytical skills and strategic vision for sales deployment. Proficiency in general computer knowledge, especially Microsoft Office. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks. Strong organization and presentation skills. Ability to interact with and manage people of diverse backgrounds while solving complex problems and building a productive sales team. Advanced knowledge of sales/marketing/hospitality principles and practices. Able to work well in high-pressure situations and maintain composure and objectivity.
