POSITION PURPOSE The purpose of the Sales Manager is to embody Carter's mission, vision, and values to support a dynamic and high-performing team that consistently achieves outstanding results. In collaboration with the store management team, the Sales Manager oversees the productivity of the store. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS People: Communicates effectively with management and associates. Addresses employee concerns quickly by collaborating with the Store Manager. Aids in hiring and actively recruits to fill open positions promptly. Provides ongoing feedback to the store team in real-time. Recognizes and rewards excellent performance to foster employee engagement. Seeks and positively responds to feedback for continuous improvement. Partners with Store Manager to manage performance issues.
Performance: Maintains a neat, clean, and organized store environment. Exemplifies exceptional customer service and upholds high standards. Leads and executes specific areas of responsibility with careful planning and follow-through. Takes charge during Leader on Duty shifts to drive results and address customer concerns promptly. Collaborates with store management to adjust schedules based on business needs to enhance sales productivity. Regularly discusses business insights, strengths, and opportunities with the Store Manager. Utilizes customer feedback to identify and implement improvement strategies.
Process: Assists in efficient planning and execution of store processes and merchandise display in line with brand guidelines. Supports Asset Protection efforts through customer service and operational controls. Executes company directives in a timely manner, including visual merchandising, signage, markdowns, and promotional strategies. Builds customer loyalty through company-sponsored initiatives. Ensures adherence to all company policies and procedures.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES High school diploma or GED is required; an Associate's degree is preferred or equivalent experience. Minimum of 1 year in retail management, with demonstrated customer engagement skills. Strong listening, writing, and oral communication skills are necessary, along with basic computer skills. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Ability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly, stand for extended periods, and climb a ladder. Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and pulling are required. AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS Regular attendance is essential to remain active in this role. Any changes in availability must be discussed with the Store Manager based on business needs. Shifts typically range from 3-8 hours in length (subject to applicable state laws). Compensation: The hourly wage for this position ranges from $17.25 to $21.25 based on experience and location.
