Golf Pro Shop Operations Assistant The purpose of this position is to assist with Golf Pro Shop Operations at the Aeropines Golf Club in Virginia Beach, VA. The responsibilities include greeting all patrons, assisting them with any golfing needs, and ringing up sales of green fees, carts, range balls, and other services/merchandise. The role also involves ensuring all players are properly signed in and all fees paid, meeting golfers during play to ensure receipts reflect the proper number of holes, and explaining rules, etiquette, and other information regarding the course. The assistant exercises knowledge of items sold, demonstrating salesmanship abilities, and assists patrons in fitting wearing apparel or the proper choice of equipment when requested. They may direct recreation aids when additional range balls are needed, collect and record various tournament and service fees, help maintain roster of various tee times, and assist other staff and patrons in pairing up into foursomes for play. The assistant travels by golf carts throughout the course ensuring the pace of play and compliance with all course rules and regulations, uses tact and diplomacy to inform golfers about non-compliance with rules, and ensures the course is free of safety hazards. They receive merchandise from storage area, inventory and verify shipments and stock items, observe stock quantities, and replenish them as necessary. The assistant maintains sales and cash handling regulations and performs other related duties as assigned. The requirements include the ability to operate a cash register and other general office equipment, some computer knowledge, knowledge of golf rules and merchandise, ability to follow and interpret verbal and written instructions, and the ability to offer exceptional customer service. A friendly, mature demeanor is required at all times. This position does not have a positive education requirement.
