Volt is immediately hiring for a Sales Manager (Mainstream Retail) in the Food Manufacturing industry in Chatsworth, CA .
As a Sales Manager , you will:
Strategic Market Development:
Collaborate closely with the VP of Sales, internal peers, and our extensive broker and distributor network to design and implement impactful sales strategies for the Mainstream Food Channel. Drive the achievement of budgeted revenues and ambitious team sales goals, with a clear focus on maximizing profitability. Contribute significantly to the development of the annual departmental operating budget, comprehensive marketing plan, and strategic business plan. Hands-on Sales & Account Leadership:
Lead day-to-day sales activities, encompassing both aggressive new account development and meticulous maintenance of existing key accounts. Translate high-level sales strategies into actionable execution plans. Develop and implement precise distribution targets, compelling promotion plans aligned with company guidelines, and accurate customer sales forecasts. Manage profitability and trade spend targets to ensure optimal return on investment. Cultivate and strengthen robust relationships with existing customers and channels through regular meetings, strategic site visits, and ongoing engagement to consistently meet and exceed sales projections. Performance Analysis & Reporting:
Partner with the VP of Sales and Marketing to generate insightful monthly reports and sales forecasts, conducting in-depth analysis of market and sales trends. Orchestrate activities designed to significantly increase revenue and market share, ensuring all sales targets are met or surpassed. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Innovation:
Serve as a critical liaison, facilitating seamless collaboration with R&D, Production, Quality, and other internal departments. Drive product development and enhance product quality by actively integrating customer and consumer feedback. Keep the R&D team informed on emerging food trends to support the creation of new SKUs and continuous recipe improvements. Actively participate in weekly/monthly sensory tastings, providing immediate and constructive feedback on product quality. Brand Ambassador & Business Development:
Represent the company with excellence at nationwide food shows, proactively identifying and exploring new business opportunities. Work directly alongside the CEO to implement groundbreaking new sales initiatives. Undertake other strategic tasks as assigned to support overall business objectives. This is a full time, direct hire role.
The ideal candidate will have:
Bachelors degree is required. Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience within a sales organization or business unit in the Food Industry. Demonstrated success with mainstream market accounts (e.g., national grocery chains, mass merchandisers) is highly preferred. Strong working knowledge of sales cycles across various customer types, including retailers, wholesalers, and food service. Superior organizational and prioritization abilities, thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Strong analytical skills to interpret sales data and market trends. Willingness and ability to travel domestically and/or internationally as needed to support business objectives. Valid drivers license and a clean driving record. Proficiency in Google Apps, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and CRM systems. Salary: $85,000 - $120,000/year.
*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidates education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
