Sales Tax/Fixed Asset Accountant - Sr

Job Summary
Ensures that NAL complies with all applicable sales and use tax laws for all states in which it conducts business transactions, and that all fixed assets of the company are accounted for in compliance with GAAP and IRS guidelines.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Interprets tax regulations in order to determine taxability of all purchases to assure adherence to Department of Revenue guidelines.
Calculates and assesses sales and use tax, where required.
Reviews check run weekly for sales and use tax discrepancies, and corrects as needed.
Prepares filings for sales and use tax payments to appropriate states.
Places fixed assets in service and prepares monthly depreciation journal entries in compliance with GAAP and IRS guidelines.
Maintains purchase order and payment detail in database for capital and tooling orders.
Reconciles construction in progress account balance monthly.
Assigns account coding to capital purchase requisitions in accordance with NAL budgetary guidelines.
Prepares account reconciliations and analysis for general ledger accounts.
Prepares analyses for year-end financial audit.
Manage year end tax accruals
Oversee monthly depreciation
Monitor NAL assets at supplier locations
Provide depreciation calculations for the business plan
Requirements
Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Business, or related discipline 2. 4 to 6 years of professional experience in General Accounting Experience in sales and use tax is preferred, and manufacturing 3. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas: a. Knowledge and understanding of GAAP concepts and principals, and how they are applied in a business environment b. Organizational and planning skills c. Mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail d. Skills using business and accounting software packages, including MS Excel and Access e. Written and verbal communications and presentation skills f. Interpersonal skills — to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority Salary Range: $74,000-$85,000 At North American Lighting
