Hearing Science and Audiology Specialist
We seek a professional Audiologist to apply hearing science and audiology principles in formulating Independent Medical Opinions (IMO) for past and present military service members. The scope of practice includes assessing the severity of hearing problems, diagnosis, causation, and probability of hearing problems related to military service.
Key Responsibilities
To administer and interpret tests to determine the type and degree of hearing impairment.
Evaluate test results and behavioral, social, educational, and medical record reviews to determine likely causes of hearing loss and prognosis.
To operate computerized programs and utilize application software and databases to enter, modify, and access information into/from electronic medical records.
Maintain patient confidentiality with written and verbal information per HIPAA regulations.
Conduct otoscopic examinations, cerumen management, and calibration checks of audiometric equipment.
To lead paraprofessional staff training for Audiology specific skills and certifications as required by all LOBs.
Completion of Veterans Benefits Administration Disability Benefit Questionnaires (DBQs).
Required Qualifications
A Doctorate Degree in Audiology (Au.D) from an accredited college or university.
No less than 5 years of clinic practice experience.
Professional experience directly related or desire to work with Compensation and Pension Examination, and experience with hearing conservation programs/and or noise conservation programs preferred but not required.
Currently licensed Audiologist in the state employed and license shall be unrestricted.
American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and/or American Academy of Audiology (AAA) certification prior to hire.
