Job Brief
The Software Sales Engineer is responsible for supporting sales teams with product positioning, evaluating customer project requirements, sizing software solutions, performing product demonstrations, and winning the confidence of customer prospects. The Software Sales Engineer is expected to have a strong background in Network Management Systems and Networking software.
Responsibilities
Act as the primary technical resource for the sales team in customer engagements
Lead technical discovery sessions to gather customer requirements and map solutions to business needs
Deliver high-impact product demonstrations tailored to customer environments
Create and present solution architectures, integration strategies and technical documentation for proposals and RFP responses
Collaborate with product management and engineering to relay customer feedback and influence product roadmap
Support proof of concept (PoC) deployments, trials and pilot projects, ensuring customer success from technical evaluation to deployment
Participate in sales discussions over audio/web conference or in live meetings
Perform demonstrations or POC’s over web conference or live meetings
Win the confidence of colleagues and client prospects as an expert technical resource
Assist sales in pricing, proposing, and SOW creation
Interface with other departments regarding product development and implementation
Provide timely project updates to internal engineering and project managers
Provide product, systems, and technical training to new and existing employees on an as needed basis
Conduct ongoing technology assessments, research new network related products and features, and develop cost effective recommendations and plans for optimizing the deployment process
Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience
Strong understanding of Technical Software sales; network or Information Technology software is preferred but not required
Basic understanding of Network Management Systems from a major vendor (Cisco, Juniper, Ciena, Nokia, etc) is preferred
Familiarity with network technologies including IP/MPLS, optical transport, SNMP, NetConf/YANG and REST APls
Demonstrated experience supporting sales efforts with technical presentations and solution design
Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to explain complex topics to varied audiences.
Good organizational and interpersonal skills
Ability to accurately follow documented procedures
Aptitude to learn new technologies as they are incorporated into the system
