Job Title: Technical Sales Associate Reports to: Heavy Industries Sales Manager Schedule: Typical office hours M-F, hours may vary at times Summary: The Technical Sales Associate plays a critical role in driving sales and supporting customers within the HVAC and heavy industries, with a specialized focus on damper products. This position combines technical expertise with customer-facing responsibilities, helping clients identify the right damper solutions for their applications while ensuring a high level of service and satisfaction. The ideal candidate will be both technically knowledgeable and commercially savvy, capable of translating engineering concepts into value-driven sales strategies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties may include the following. Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary to support quality goals and objectives. Work with customers and internal engineering teams to assess system requirements and design customized solutions that meet customer needs. Answer technical questions and address technical objections during the sales cycle. Assist the sales team by developing proposals and bids in response to requests for proposals (RFPs). Provide technical support during the installation process and help clients troubleshoot problems with installed products. Provide technical consultation and product recommendations based on customer needs and specifications. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure feasibility and customization of damper solutions. Stay current with industry trends, standards, and competitor products. Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and forecasts using CRM tools. Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials used in damper fabrication. Ability to meet and maintain all qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. Ability to safely and successfully perform all essential job functions, meet attendance expectations, and comply with all personnel policies and procedures. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, organizational skills, and/or ability required. A minimum of an Associate or higher in engineering, design technology, mechatronics, or similar related fields will be considered. 2+ years of technical sales experience, preferably in HVAC or industrial equipment. Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks. Strong understanding of damper types (e.g., control, backdraft, fire/smoke) and their applications would be preferred but not required. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Excellent time management skills and proven ability to meet deadlines. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Proficiency in Computer navigation, SharePoint or shared networking, ERP Systems (D365), Microsoft applications, and CRM packages. Advanced Mathematical Skills: Algebra and Geometry, Working knowledge of both the Metric and Imperial systems. Previous experience working in an ISO certified facility preferred. Willingness to travel and hold a current passport, occasional travel.
