SUMMARY:
The Pharmacy Technician works under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists and assists the pharmacists in preparing and distributing drugs, maintaining drug inventories and maintenance of records.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: 2 years hospital pharmacy technician experience required.
Certifications: Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Arkansas required. Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required. Other: Excellent interpersonal communication skills required to interact with patients, coworkers and other health care professionals. Ability to solve problems, prioritize work in a high volume environment, and adapt to changes to workload and schedule to meet patient needs. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to write legibly, speak and read English proficiently. Must be able to operate computer, calculator, telephone, pager, and other related pharmacy equipment.
Safety Sensitive Designation:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to perform the following: Must have the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, to solve problems and make decisions. Ability to frequently stand and walk for long periods of time (4-8 hours per shift), and occassionally bend, squat and kneel, to pick up items from floor or on higher/lower shelves. Requires repetitive use of hands and fingers (use of computer keyboard), and ability to finger, grasp and feel objects. Must be able to lift and carry 20 pounds with proper body mechanics. Acuity to the five senses required. Must be able to handle stressful situations with efficiency and composure, operate equipment required to perform pharmacy department tasks, work with numerous or constant interruptions, and perform independent work. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Ability to concentrate for long periods of time.
Work Environment :
Hospital environment to include Emergency Department, Patient Care Units, Patient Rooms and Pharmacy.
Potential exposure to hazardous or toxic substances (e.g., chemotherapeutic and/or cytotoxic drugs and cleaning solutions.
