Area Director of Sales and Marketing Location: Indianapolis, IN Compensation: $145K - $165K Total Package + Relocation Assistance
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and innovative Area Director of Sales and Marketing to oversee the sales and marketing efforts for a portfolio of three hotel properties, including both full-service and select-service brands. This leadership role is responsible for driving revenue growth, developing strategic sales initiatives, and implementing creative marketing campaigns to enhance brand visibility and profitability. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in hotel sales, a deep understanding of market trends, and a passion for leading high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities: Strategic Planning: Design and execute comprehensive sales and marketing strategies to achieve revenue goals across all properties, focusing on key metrics such as room nights, ADR, and RevPAR. Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and inspire the sales and marketing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional development. Sales Oversight: Manage all sales activities, including direct sales efforts, account management, and client relationship building, to maximize revenue opportunities. Market Analysis: Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to identify opportunities for growth and adjust strategies as needed. Marketing Initiatives: Oversee the development and execution of digital marketing campaigns, including social media, email marketing, SEO/SEM, and partnerships with OTAs. Budget Management: Optimize the marketing budget to ensure resources are allocated effectively and deliver maximum ROI on campaigns and initiatives. Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, meeting planners, and community stakeholders to drive business and enhance brand reputation. Collaboration: Work closely with hotel operations and revenue management teams to align pricing strategies and ensure a seamless guest experience. Reporting: Prepare and present detailed reports on sales performance, market insights, and revenue forecasts to senior leadership. Industry Engagement: Represent the properties at trade shows, client events, and community functions to expand the network and enhance brand presence.
Qualifications & Experience: Extensive experience working with Marriott brands and systems, with a strong understanding of Marriott’s sales processes, brand standards, and tools such as CI/TY and MarRFP. 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in hotel sales, with a proven track record of success in managing both full-service and select-service properties. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Hospitality Management, or related field. Demonstrated success in developing and implementing sales strategies that consistently achieve or exceed revenue goals.
Skills & Competencies: Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with a focus on coaching and developing sales professionals. Strong financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, and revenue management. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities. Proficiency in CRM systems, property management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, competitive environment, while maintaining a focus on long-term goals. Proven ability to build and sustain lasting client relationships.
