Description: Area Sales Manager The Area Sales Manager will be an integral part of sales efforts and is a valued member of the Sales and Marketing leadership team. The Area Sales Manager is responsible for effectively soliciting, qualifying, negotiating and closing with all accounts in his/her assigned market segments and/or territory to positively impact hotel revenues and market share goals for 2 or more hotels. • Reports to the Regional Director of Sales. • Cooperates with General Managers and other hotel team members. Requires knowledge of hotel sales techniques and professional business practices. Requires ability to communicate clearly in English, both orally and in writing. Requires basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Requires effective time management and organizational skills. Requires ability to operate an automobile in the daily routine of making sales calls. EDUCATION: College degree preferred and / or college courses related to sales and marketing preferred. EXPERIENCE: Requires minimum of 4 years of hotel sales experience, Marriott, IHG or Hilton preferred. • Ability to understand, execute and support company service standards • Ability to work collaboratively with hotel teams in achieving revenue objectives • Superior team relations skills to work collaboratively with others • Excellent communication skills and ability to train team members in applicable sales strategies and tools • Strong overall sales skills and an ability to effectively close • Operational knowledge and/or appreciation of operational challenges • Assertive at establishing new customer relationships • Exhibits self-confidence, energy and enthusiasm • Understands need time strategy as developed by Revenue Management. Achieves team and individual goals • Basic Microsoft and hotel software knowledge. Delphi experience a plus.
