Position Summary :
The Sales Engineer is responsible for managing existing automation customer accounts and driving new business opportunities through a combination of consultative selling, technical expertise, and strategic relationship-building. This role requires an in-depth understanding of automated assembly processes and equipment, along with the ability to present complex technical solutions to customers. The Sales Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver tailored solutions and drive sales growth. Travel is required up to 50%
Essential Job Functions
· Lead Generation & Qualification: Utilize a variety of channels (cold calling, networking, inbound leads, digital marketing, and trade shows) to generate and qualify sales leads. · Solution Selling: Conduct technical discussions with customers to understand their needs and propose tailored automation solutions. · Sales Presentations & Proposals: Develop and deliver compelling sales presentations, product demonstrations, and technical proposals that address customer requirements and provide value. · Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key customer accounts, ensuring customer satisfaction and fostering long-term business partnerships. · Negotiation & Closing: Lead negotiations with customers, close deals, and ensure successful contract implementation. · Market & Competitive Analysis: Continuously gather competitive intelligence and market insights to adapt sales strategies and identify new opportunities. · Forecasting & Reporting: Contribute to sales forecasting, tracking performance against targets, and providing regular updates to leadership. · Collaboration with Engineering & Service Teams: Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure technical feasibility of solutions and assist with post-sale support as needed.
Marginal Job Functions :
· Provide additional reporting and analytics as required. · Assist with ongoing service and engineering support activities to ensure successful implementation of automation solutions. Education (What is the minimum education level necessary to complete the essential functions of the position?)
A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ME), Electrical Engineering (EE), or a related field preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical sales or engineered solutions, with a strong track record of consultative selling and customer relationship management
Mandatory Qualification Requirements:
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear and persuasive manner. · Solid understanding of automated assembly processes, equipment, and machine drawings. · Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a mechanical aptitude for understanding customer needs. · Experience in cost estimating, project management, and negotiating commercial terms. · Ability to work effectively within a team and manage time effectively to meet goals and deadlines. · Familiarity with CRM systems and sales automation tools is a plus.
