Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000 plus growth incentives
Flex Membrane International Corp is a leading manufacturer and marketer of premium-quality commercial roofing systems for commercial, industrial, and residential applications. Flex systems are installed nationwide on major commercial projects.
Overview of the Business Development Sales Manager role:
The Business Development Manager will serve as the primary customer-facing representative of the company, Focusing on expanding our customer base and implementing an effective business development strategy. The main goal of this role is to drive sustainable financial growth by building strong customer relationships and increasing sales. They will manage the independent sales rep network established and grow it. This role will report directly to the President of Flex. This role has the potential to expand into an executive-level leadership position as Flex grows its distribution network.
Essential or Primary / Key Responsibilities:
Conduct market research analysis, monitor and make recommendations concerning market needs, changes in competitive policies and strategies, channels of distribution, advertising and promotion, pricing, and sales activity
Develop sales forecasts by product line, markets, and major customers. Implement marketing programs to achieve sales and market share objectives as well as prepare and issue reports as required
Maintain existing accounts and generate new accounts to grow the business
Support and develop strategies with management to meet sales and profitability objectives and make direct customer calls on contractors/distributors/retailers to develop and increase sales through these channels
Formulate job bids and negotiate contracts to drive product/systems sales to support established price strategies and minimize price deviations
Manage customer needs through product development processes, provide technical assistance and information to customers.
Educate and train sales reps and customers about our products and services, assuring legal compliance in the selling of all products and systems with applicable local, state, and federal regulations
Collaborate with our technical and sales team to identify new opportunities within existing or new programs and develop a sales strategy
Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
Additional Duties / Responsibilities:
Bring initiatives and activities to closure in a timely manner through effective interaction with individuals, both internal and external (as required)
Continue work seamlessly while traveling on company business (i.e. conduct work using mobile devices, from hotels, while at trade shows, and/or across varying time zones when necessary)
Consistently demonstrate commitment to company values
Keep management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or 8 years of professional experience in lieu of a degree (plus requirements below)
5+ years proven work experience in low slope roofing or construction industry
Experience in sales and working with architects, consultants, and contractors to specify products.
Ability to Analyze and evaluate product lines, markets, customers, marketing programs, and sales strategies, as well as to estimate and monitor expenses for budgeting and territory/market operations
Experience with CRM software (Hubspot, Salesforce, etc).
Proven track record of business development strategies focused on growth of the customer base; program wins and customer satisfaction
Strong sales process experience with an innate drive to succeed and take initiative
Strong organizational talents and proven ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to new environments
Exemplary verbal/written communication skills required for multi-faceted interactions with all levels of personnel within the organization, as well as all outside agents, including but not limited to; vendors, suppliers, customers, potential job candidates, etc.
Must have valid driver’s license/insurance
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Must have the ability to travel internationally
Work Environment:
This is a full-time position. We are results-oriented and expect the commitment necessary to achieve sales goals.
The primary work environment is an office environment, with occasional visits to job sites. Please be aware that job site visits may involve exposure to various environmental conditions, including cold, heat, high noise levels, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, and may require extensive walking or climbing.
Local, non-local, and international travel is required for this position, 30% - 50%.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee at times may need to climb, reach, bend, lift and carry items
Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, and move about the facility and other locations
May be required to lift, push, pull and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds
Ability to climb up ladders and get on a roof
