Position Summary:
The Direct-to-Landfill Sales Representative will be responsible for prospecting, qualifying, and securing new waste diversion opportunities by identifying construction and demolition projects currently sending waste directly to landfills. This role involves educating clients on the benefits of recycling services, negotiating service contracts, and building strong relationships with key stakeholders in the construction, demolition, and hauling industries across Washington State.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and target construction and demolition projects currently utilizing direct-to-landfill disposal methods.
- Develop relationships with general contractors, project managers, waste haulers, and demolition firms.
- Educate customers on C&D recycling options, sustainability benefits, and local diversion requirements (e.g., LEED, MR credits, local city ordinances).
- Conduct site visits to evaluate potential waste volumes and material types.
- Generate leads through cold calling, site canvassing, and industry networking events.
- Close sales and coordinate with dispatch and operations to ensure seamless customer onboarding and service delivery.
- Track and report diversion rates, customer metrics, and competitive market insights.
- Maintain a deep understanding of WA state environmental regulations and municipal recycling mandates.
- Represent the company at industry events, local builder associations, and sustainability roundtables.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in B2B sales, preferably in waste, construction, or environmental services.
- Knowledge of construction waste streams, demolition practices, and recycling/recovery processes.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Self-motivated with a hunter mentality and ability to work independently.
- Familiarity with Washington State landfill policies, recycling ordinances, and green building standards.
- Proficient with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and digital sales tools.
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation; willingness to travel across job sites statewide.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with LEED projects or municipal construction requirements.
- Background in waste hauling, dumpster rental, or environmental consulting.
- Existing network in the construction or demolition sectors within WA.
Commission:
- Commission structure 3% up to 1 million or 1 year whichever comes first, then after 1% on all sales, includes Claw backs.
- Commissions are paid every 4th payroll of the month, for previous sales.
