Our Safety Tech Business Unit is a market-leading Tier 1 supplier of fully homologated Camera Monitor Systems (CMS), Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and Driver Protection Doors for commercial vehicles, including buses, trucks, and coaches. We work directly with OEMs, municipalities, and integrators to make roads and cities safer through smart, certified technologies.
Position Overview :
We are seeking an experienced and driven Director of Business Development to lead commercial growth in North America for our Safety Tech product lines, including Smart Vision Systems and Safety Doors. In this high-impact role, you will identify and pursue new business opportunities, develop strategic relationships, and lead efforts to expand our footprint across the coach, truck, and bus markets.
This role is ideal for a seasoned sales professional with deep knowledge of the transportation sector, long sales cycles, and a strong network within OEMs. A background in mechanics and electronics is strongly preferred due to the technical nature of our products.
You will play a critical role in shaping the commercial strategy, driving revenue, and representing Gauzy at a senior level with key customers and stakeholders.
This opportunity allows you to establish and grow a commercial presence from the ground up, leveraging innovative, safety-focused products. You will join a global leader in the urban bus sector, with a strategic ambition to expand our presence in the coach and truck markets. This high-responsibility role offers significant autonomy and places you at the heart of key strategic decisions and international development.
Strategic Market Analysis & Growth Planning
Analyze market trends, customer feedback, and competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities
Propose product enhancements or new solutions aligned with customer and market needs
Develop and present comprehensive business plans to guide strategic decisions
Define and execute commercial and product development strategies
Build and manage the product portfolio in collaboration with Marketing, R&D, and Operations teams
Contribute to the development of innovative product concepts tailored to regional needs
Business Development & Sales Execution
Lead prospecting and acquisition of strategic customers in North America
Coordinate Key Account Managers during prospecting and acquisition of strategic clients
Manage and expand a portfolio of internation clients and prospects
Develop long-term customer relationships to ensure retention and satisfaction
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
Report regularly on business outcomes and recommend continuous improvement actions
Ensure alignment with global business goals and regional market realities
Requirements Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, sales, or relevant field (MBA preferred).
7+ years of experience in B2B business development, sales, or commercial leadership
Strong background in the transportation, automotive, or mobility sectors
Demonstrated success with long sales cycles and complex stakeholder environments
Strong technical acumen in mechanical and electronic systems (preferred)
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
Ability to work independently and cross-functionally in a global environment
Existing network with OEMs, municipalities, and system integrators is a strong plus
Physical Requirements
Ability to travel frequently as needed to attend customer meetings, trade shows, and internal team events
Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods during video calls, presentations, or travel
Occasional lifting of materials (such as marketing displays, prototypes, or demo kits) up to 25 pounds
Must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and spoken English
Ability to work on a computer and use standard office equipment for extended durations
