Position Summary
The Director of Event Sales – Ritz-Carlton NoMad is a senior strategic sales leader responsible for driving event-related revenue and client relationships for José Andrés Group (JAG) venues within Ritz-Carlton NoMad. This leader will ensure outstanding event sales performance, foster strong client partnerships, and execute high-visibility events that align with JAG’s brand as well as the Ritz-Carlton’s standard of refined luxury hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Revenue Growth
Develop and execute an event sales strategy that targets weddings, social events, corporate functions, and private dining for JAG venues at Ritz-Carlton NoMad.
Collaborate with JAG and hotel leadership to set annual event sales goals and monitor performance.
Identify and cultivate new business opportunities, including corporate accounts, third-party planners, luxury social clients, and partnerships.
Track market trends and competitive activity to optimize pricing, packaging, and sponsorship opportunities.
Client Relationship Management
Serve as the lead sales contact for event clients, guiding them through the planning process from inquiry through execution, and ensuring exceptional service.
Build and nurture long-term relationships with clients, planners, agencies, and luxury hospitality partners.
Anticipate client needs and provide proactive consultative selling, matching event design and catering solutions to client objectives.
Oversee contract negotiations, deposits, billing, and follow-up communications.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Coordinate with Culinary, Events Operations, Banquets, Marketing, and Hotel Sales teams to ensure seamless planning, execution, and on-site delivery of events.
Serve as a liaison between client and operational teams to ensure logistics, menus, staffing, and service standards are clearly communicated and executed.
Participate in tastings, menu planning, and floorplan development with clients and internal partners to align vision and logistics.
Event Execution Oversight
Attend and oversee event rehearsals, set-up, and on-the-day execution to ensure quality, service standards, and client satisfaction.
Monitor event timelines, manage last-minute adjustments, and resolve client or operational issues proactively.
Gather and debrief client feedback post-event, implement lessons learned and identify potential follow-up or repeat business.
Financial Oversight & Reporting
Develop event forecasts, pricing strategies, and revenue projections in alignment with annual targets.
Monitor event budgets, expenses, and vendor contracts, ensuring profitability and cost controls.
Provide regular reporting on event sales performance, pipeline, booking pace, and forecast to JAG and hotel stakeholders.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead and mentor the event sales team, setting goals, performance standards, and development plans.
Provide coaching, training, and feedback to ensure strong client service, sales conversion, and negotiation skills within the team.
Build a talent pipeline for event sales and planner roles and assist with recruiting and hiring as needed.
Support administrative responsibilities including performance reviews, scheduling, and resource planning.
Requirements: Required Qualifications
7–10 years of sales leadership or event sales experience in luxury hospitality, hotels, or fine dining—ideally in New York City.
Proven track record driving event sales, revenue growth, and large-scale event bookings in a luxury environment.
Solid understanding of event planning, catering logistics, and client relationship management.
Experience negotiating event contracts, managing deposits, and building event proposals.
Excellent communication, presentation, and consultative sales skills.
Skilled in cross-functional collaboration and detailed event execution oversight.
Proficiency with event sales and CRM systems, catering software, and Google Workspace.
Knowledge of luxury service standards and high-touch hospitality expectations.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Ability to walk and stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours) during event setup and execution.
Occasional lifting of materials and event-related items—up to 15 lbs regularly, 30 lbs occasionally.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced event environment with multiple deadlines and shifting priorities.
Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-site during client events.
Frequent use of hands, bending, reaching, listening, and visual acuity during event walkthroughs and execution.
