Overview

The Director of Sales works with the President to develop, communicate and implement the sales strategy for the company. The Director manages the sales team, providing guidance and assistance to help them meet sales objectives. The Director identifies annual, quarterly, and monthly sales revenue objectives by key account, region, product line, salesperson, and broker, and works independently and with the President to achieve them.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and presents annual sales plan identifying key revenue opportunities by key account, region, product line, salesperson and broker.
  • Monitors performance against sales objectives by leading monthly, quarterly, and annual reviews with the leadership team; analyzes results to plan and identifies causes for shortfalls; recommends and implements remedial actions to ensure forecasted sales are attained.
  • Conducts market and competitor research; stays up to date on industry trends and best practices; generates new leads and referrals through networking.
  • Manages the sales team, setting revenue objectives and reviewing performance on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis; assists sales staff in developing and executing strategies to achieve goals; mentors through regular ride-alongs and models customer-centric sales techniques as appropriate.
  • Identifies and qualifies distributors for strategic sales partnerships; negotiates broker compensation; monitors performance and relationships to protect the company’s interests.
  • Collaborates with production and distribution to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Uses broad knowledge of sales concepts and analytics to resolve complex issues and drive year-over-year revenue and profit growth; provides leadership and direction for the company’s sales objectives.
  • Performs other special projects as necessary.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND APTITUDES

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing or related area preferred
  • 8+ years of professional-level food manufacturing sales experience; 5 years of experience managing a sales team; proven track record of developing and executing successful sales strategies and achieving targets
  • Familiarity with key players in the appropriate industries is a plus
  • Demonstrated skill at developing effective relationships with key customer decision makers; strong management of distributor relationships
  • Proven financial insight; able to analyze data, track KPIs, and adjust strategies as needed
  • Computer and systems savvy; quick learner of new systems and applications; data driven
  • Polished, persuasive communicator with internal teams and external partners
  • As a member of a federally regulated industry, Boston Salads requires pre-employment drug testing, including marijuana
