Job Summary
The Express Meetings/Catering Sales Manager is responsible for achieving catering and banquet sales goals while maintaining excellent client relationships. This role focuses on securing and servicing social events (weddings, galas, milestone celebrations, and SMERF segments), while also supporting overall hotel sales initiatives. Working closely with the Director of Sales and catering team, you will develop new business, grow repeat accounts, and ensure flawless event execution from start to finish.
Key Functions & Responsibilities
- Will handle all catering including the social market along with groups that are 20 rooms on peak or less.
- Attain assigned sales and revenue goals through proactive solicitation and relationship management
- Conduct sales calls, client tours, and presentations to secure new catering business
- Build and grow relationships with social, SMERF, and community event clients
- Monitor and analyze market trends to maximize competitiveness
- Prepare and ensure accuracy of Banquet Event Orders, guarantees, and event schedules
- Partner with hotel operations to deliver seamless, memorable events for clients
- Represent the hotel in the local community and industry organizations
- Participate in promotions, networking events, and sales blitzes to generate leads
- Attend daily, weekly, and monthly meetings as required
- Adhere to Avion Hospitality’s policies, brand standards, and catering sales metrics
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the General Manager or Director of Sales
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; previous catering sales experience strongly preferred
- Creativity and knowledge of food & beverage offerings highly desirable
- Strong communication and negotiation skills; ability to influence and close business deals
- Experience in social catering sales (weddings, galas, milestone events) a plus
- Valid driver’s license required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and hotel sales systems
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently with strong organizational skills
- Professional presence with strong presentation skills
