SUMMARY
The Group & Tournament Sales Manager is responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies, programs, and activities designed to drive group business across golf groups, tour & travel groups, entertainment groups, and guestroom-only groups, while maximizing revenues and promoting a positive image of Juniper Preserve. This position also oversees the planning and coordination of golf tournaments, including the creation of event orders for tournament operations. A strong knowledge of golf is required.
The Group & Tournament Sales Manager works closely with the Director of Golf, Events Coordinator, and Reservations Manager to ensure seamless communication, smooth group execution, and alignment of group and tournament sales initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales
Effectively sell and manage group business, including golf groups, tour & travel groups, entertainment groups, and guestroom-only groups, at a level to meet or exceed budgeted requirements.
Generate group leads, build a strong pipeline, and strategically prospect larger accounts to uncover new business opportunities.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with golf operators, group coordinators, travel planners, and entertainment gro
up leaders to influence booking decisions.
Provide timely, customized proposals that reflect the value of Juniper Preserve and close business effectively.
Maintain group files, contracts, payments, rooming lists, correspondence, and all detailed information in the CRM system.
Stay informed on competitive rates, packages, and industry trends to maintain a strong market position.
Conduct site inspections and host prospective clients to showcase facilities and services.
Collaborate with the Sales & Marketing team and other departments to execute campaigns, promotions, and initiatives that support group and tournament sales.
Prepare and distribute weekly sales recap reports.
Perform other sales duties as requested by the Director of Sales.
Tournament Coordination & Event Management
Develop, plan, and organize all golf tournaments and special events, ensuring smooth communication between departments.
Create detailed event and tournament orders (BEOs) for operations, including floor plans, food & beverage functions, meeting space, transportation, and special requests.
Serve as the primary contact for group and tournament clients, managing all operational needs on- and off-site.
Maintain close collaboration with the Director of Golf and Events Coordinator to ensure all tournament logistics, guest experiences, and group details are executed flawlessly.
Track deposits, billing, credits, and final charges for all group golf accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Follow up with clients post-event to ensure satisfaction and cultivate repeat business.
Identify opportunities to upsell additional services and amenities to increase overall group revenue.
General
Attend sales and staff meetings as scheduled.
Support budget planning and track departmental spending against the annual budget.
Maintain a professional and positive presence with members, clients, guests, and staff.
Uphold Juniper Preserve’s standards of service, appearance, and guest relations.
Incorporate safe work practices in daily activities.
Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to take on new assignments as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or equivalent.
Minimum of three (3) years of progressive sales experience in golf, hospitality, or related industries.
Strong knowledge of golf and proven ability to plan, manage, and execute golf tournaments.
Experience handling diverse group types, including tour & travel, entertainment, guestroom-only groups, and golf groups.
Ability to build relationships, generate new business, and portray Juniper Preserve as a premier destination.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Proficiency in financial management, budgeting, and sales reporting.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Oregon Driver License required.
Knowledge of golf segment is required.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Local travel within 50 miles.
Occasional regional travel may be required for business purposes.
