POSITION SUMMARY:

The Inside Sales Agent is responsible for managing and growing revenue by cultivating strong relationships with existing clients. This role involves providing customized transportation solutions, which include air, trucking, and interline services, and delivering accurate, timely sales information to various departments. Key responsibilities include preparing quotes, negotiating specialized pricing, and coordinating with operations to ensure efficient service delivery. The agent also supports company promotional efforts, manages territory coverage, and maintains customer relationship management (CRM) data. Additionally, they assist with credit and collection efforts and represent the company at industry events. The ideal candidate will be focused on ensuring profitability and customer satisfaction through proactive engagement and strategic planning.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned from time to time.

  • Occasional on-site visits to existing clients
  • Strategic role primarily based in the office setting
  • Provides timely and accurate coordination of sales information including, but not limited to sales promotions, sales leads, sales directives, policies and procedures, etc. to all sales personnel, agents and other departments, as required.
  • Assist customers, domestic stations, international stations as well as internal staff in the facilitation of transportation solutions, whether air/truck or development of other service needs.
  • Ensure contracts are kept up to date and maintain profitability. Work with operations, as well as partners to develop programs which will enhance service to clients.
  • Monitor trucking services and coordinate any special needs as required. Monitor truck utilization and maximization by consolidation of routes and stations while ensuring service commitments are met.
  • Provide air/Interline/trucking quotes as necessary.
  • Provides specialized pricing such as spot rates, oversized freight rate quotations
  • Ensure sales personnel are supplied with promotional materials.
  • Provides administrative support to account executives, if any, and sales Manager.
  • Manages sales territory coverage to ensure level of customer contact required to support the business plan.
  • Maintains and builds account relationships.
  • Ensures company products, services, rates, pertinent policies and operational changes are communicated to customers on a timely basis.
  • Assists in obtaining credit information and performing collection activities as required.
  • Obtains and communicates information about competitive services, products and pricing to Sales Manager and Chief Operating Officer.
  • Represents the Company at industry trade shows and conferences.
  • Maintains all information about customers, including all contact information and call reports, accurately and timely in the Sales Data Base program (CRM).
  • Develops and gives formal business presentations to all identified top accounts at least once per year.
  • Prepares weekly sales plan and sends weekly sales plan to sales manager by Monday at 5pm.
  • Assures that all assigned customer accounts receive frequency of visits according to account classification.
  • Any others duties related to Commercial as requested.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree from a college or technical school OR a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience and/or training.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to read and interpret business publications, technical procedures, and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to effectively, source, interact and build relationships with customers, colleagues, and management in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to customer inquiries promptly and maintain accurate records.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the airfreight, logistics, or transportation industry.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and maintaining customer databases.
  • Multi-lingual capabilities; preferably English and Spanish fluency.
  • Prior experience in telemarketing, quoting, or customer service roles.
  • Understanding of interline and ocean freight processes.
  • Ability to create and deliver formal business presentations to key accounts.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associate degree or equivalent from a college or technical school or minimum two years’ experience and/or training. Strong internet and PC skills required including, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience in the airfreight industry a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Must possess strong interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. Multi-lingual capabilities a plus

TRAVEL
  • Onsite client visits are required
