Located in Richmond, California, our 14-acre facility is fully stocked with extensive inventory, which allows for prompt delivery, product versatility, and customer satisfaction. We have the largest lumber delivery fleet in the Bay Area; our steadfast delivery services bring the materials you need to your front door.
Essential Duties
Build and maintain strong relationships with external customers and develop a strong partnership with the Channel Lumber internal and outside sales organization.
Receive inbound sales inquiries, via phone, email, and other outlets, answer questions regarding products, quote customers, and process sales orders.
Partner with the inside sales organization for purchase orders, as well as some vendor contact when needed.
Import sales orders and customer quotes for the outside sales organization as needed.
Act as liaison between sales organization and lumber/supply yard, ensuring accuracy and timely processing of sales orders and customer inquiries.
Consultative sales approach with customers, answering questions and offering advice and direction based on product knowledge.
Assist in sourcing “difficult to find” products for the customer with internal purchasing team and the outside sales team when needed.
Maintain and develop personal customer base, while pursuing new opportunities and prospective accounts for the business via business development activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 3 years in an inside or outside sales organization, previous experience and product knowledge in hardware and/or building supply required.
Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills, preferably within an inside or outside sales organization, as well as knowledge of regional customer base and market.
Previous experience in sales tracking software or CRM required.
Demonstrated aptitude in basic math.
Previous experience in processing sales orders and partnering with internal sales purchasing, organizations strongly preferred.
Due to the customer base being served in this role, bilingual in English and Spanish required.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods throughout the shift
Regularly lift, carry, and move merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs.; occasionally up to 80+ lbs. with assistance
Comfortable working at heights, including climbing ladders and accessing overhead storage
Tolerance for working in varied weather conditions, including outdoor lumber yard environments
Manual dexterity to handle tools, hardware, and small components with precision
Visual acuity to read labels, signage, and product information accurately
Ability to safely maneuver in tight or crowded areas, including between shelving and stock zones

Pay range $25-$30 an hour, with sales commission incentives and benefits
