Media Relations Manager

Lockheed Martin is seeking a Media Relations Manager to join the Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) business area. The Media Relations Manager will be a strategic, motivated public relations professional responsible for shaping and executing media relations efforts that highlight the business area's portfolio, technologies, and innovation. This role is critical to building and protecting MFC's reputation through proactive storytelling and responsive media engagement. The successful candidate will lead the development and execution of strategic media campaigns that elevate MFC's role in delivering next-generation defense technologies. This individual will uncover and promote compelling innovation stories, manage high-stakes media moments, and provide expert crisis communications support. Working collaboratively with peers across digital, marketing, and program communications teams, this role helps ensure consistent messaging across paid, earned, shared, and owned channels. This role also provides strategic leadership and coaching for direct reports and peers across the MFC Communications team, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages growth and performance. What You Will Be Doing Lead media strategy development and execution to secure high-impact coverage in national, trade, and technology media outlets. Identify and develop compelling innovation and technology storylines that align with business objectives and resonate with external audiences. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key journalists and editors through regular, proactive outreach. Pitch complex, technical topics clearly and persuasively to general and trade media. Act as a trusted partner to internal stakeholders, advising on media strategy and providing expert guidance on news releases, messaging, and media opportunities. Lead crisis communications response planning and execution, including rapid-response media coordination.
