Are you an expert in CPG/Retail with an emphasis in the fresh dairy space? Our client, a leader in the premium cheese sector, is seeking a strategic National Account Sales Manager-Food Retailers. The National Account Sales Manager will lead and grow relationships with retail partners across the country. The role is responsible for driving sales, building long-term partnerships, and executing national account strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CPG retail sales, with a proven track record in managing national/regional accounts across all channels of retail business. The position is remote with a preferred base in the Western U.S.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Own and manage relationships with current national/regional food retailers across all channels of retail business (e.g., Grocery, Mass, Club, Value, & Natural) ensuring alignment of business objectives and mutual growth. Will be assigned a list of target accounts for securing new business
  • Responsible for sales strategy & Execution: Develop and execute annual business plans by account, including sales targets, distribution voids, and volume forecasts
  • Responsible for negotiations & contracts: Work hand in hand with the Vice President of Retail Sales on negotiations of trade terms and joint business planning to secure favorable outcomes
  • Ability to work in cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, Logistics, Category Analyst, Finance, Purchasing, Project Management, and Customer Service to deliver best-in-class customer solutions
  • Monitor sales performance, track KPIs, analyze market and consumer data, and provide actionable insights to optimize growth
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand product distribution, launch new items, and increase sales within existing and new accounts
  • Collaborate with demand planning to ensure accurate forecasts and inventory alignment with account needs

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in sales or account management within the Food and Beverage or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Industry required
  • Experience with Grocery Headquarter calls and Food Distributors
  • Private Label/Store brand sales experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated success managing both large National and smaller Regional Retail accounts
  • Must have experience in budgeting and proven fiscal responsibility
  • Strong analytical communication, and negotiation skills
  • Results-driven self-motivated, highly organized, passionate, and entrepreneurial
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to influence across functions and levels
  • Deep understanding of the U.S. retail landscape and dynamics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel up to 40% as needed for customer meetings and trade shows
  • Remote location preferably in the Western U.S.

Compensation:

Competitive base $120,000.00-$130,000.00

Performance-based bonus
