Job Description
Under the direction of the Regional Sales Manager, a Sales Account Executive ensures the achievement of the Food Service Division’s profit and distribution goals by performing duties related to selling and servicing customers within the assigned territory. The products include frozen foods, groceries, dairy, beverages, fresh fish and meat, produce, equipment, chemicals, and Italian specialty items. Our customers include restaurants, hotels, and various institutions such as schools, universities, nursing homes, prisons, and other similar establishments.
- Pay: Based on experience; starting salary ranges from $70,000 to $80,000.
- Compensation Package: Transition to uncapped commission pay
- Work Location: Must be based in and able to work within the Los Angeles County area.
Responsibilities:
- Acquire new and develop existing clients to achieve profitable sales growth within the assigned territory.
- Qualify and maintain prospect pipeline and prospect visits every week
- Weekly face-to-face and remote sales to new customers and growing sales in existing customers
- Evaluate market trends and recommend products to customers based on business needs and goals
- Communicates to assigned accounts pertinent information, including but not limited to prices, special programs, new products, product information, and sales trends.
- Interface with all levels of company personnel, including purchasing, credit, and operations, to troubleshoot any problems that occur during the order or delivery process
- Selling the complete line of inventoried products utilizing available sales specialists (e.g., produce, equipment, chemical)
- Offering suggestions for increasing sales of assigned products, such as selling concepts and menu analysis, etc.
- Accurate processing and review of daily orders
- Timely follow-up to questions, problems, and commitments
- Collection of payments within assigned credit terms
- Maintains a working knowledge of credits, reports credit problems or complaints, prepares before scheduled delivery by knowing what credit procedures and/or policy applies before delivery is made
- Participate in all required sales meetings, credit meetings, or any other function deemed necessary by the Regional Sales Manager or the Director of Sales.
- Prepares in advance to allow for active participation in meetings or functions.
- Actively participates in sales contests, promotions, food shows, etc.
- Provides input and feedback regarding the selection of products.
- Provides emergency delivery service to customers when the need arises.
- Maintains a complete understanding of the Account Executive compensation program.
- Prepares territory paperwork and customers to ensure backup support is well prepared and complete in advance of any vacation or leave.
What Experience, Skills, and Attributes Will You Need to Be Successful?
- You have at least two years sales experience in the food and restaurant industry, with a strong focus on acquiring new customers.
- Proven track record of acquiring new customers and consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Strong sales and negotiation skills with a focus on customer acquisition and satisfaction.
- Ability to create and implement effective sales and lead generation strategies.
- Proficiency in CRM software, MS Office, MS Excel, and other sales tools.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Develop In-depth knowledge of industry products, competitor sales tactics, and market trends.
- You are expected to spend at least 80% of your work hours outside the Company’s offices engaging in direct sales to customers or potential customers.
- You must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record consistent with company-established guidelines.
- Having a bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience is recommended
