Job Title: Outside Sales Representative – Paint & Coatings
Reports To: Sales Manager / General Manager
Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Outside Sales Representative to join our growing team. In this role, you will focus on building and maintaining strong relationships with painting contractors, general contractors, cabinet manufactures, facility maintenance, and multi-housing property managers. Your mission is to drive sales, provide expert product solutions, and serve as a trusted partner for our customers in the field.
Key Responsibilities
Field Sales & Site Visits
Regularly visit job sites, customer offices, and facilities to assess needs and recommend paint and coating solutions.
Build relationships with decision-makers and influencers at all levels.
Customer Development
Identify and pursue new business opportunities within assigned territory.
Maintain and grow existing accounts through exceptional service and follow-up.
Product Expertise & Solutions
Provide technical product recommendations, color support, and coating system solutions tailored to each customer's needs.
Conduct on-site product demos and training as needed.
Account Management
Prepare quotes, process orders, and track deliveries to ensure customer satisfaction.
Maintain accurate records of sales activities, opportunities, and customer communications in CRM.
Market Awareness
Monitor competitor activity and industry trends to identify opportunities for growth.
Provide feedback to management on customer needs, product gaps, and market conditions.
Qualifications
Proven track record in outside sales, preferably in paint, coatings, or related building materials.
Strong understanding of contractor and construction industry buying cycles.
Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize multiple tasks.
Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and mobile sales tools.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Physical & Work Requirements
Frequent travel within assigned territory (company vehicle or mileage reimbursement provided).
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
Must be comfortable visiting job sites in various weather and work conditions.
