DescriptionTHIS POSITION IS PER DIEM (PRN) or On -Call (As Needed)Prepare and package pharmaceuticals as specified in a medication order or prescription under the supervision of a pharmacist. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:A Technician Trainee cannot compound prescription medications and sterile or nonsterile pharmaceuticals, counsel patients, perform final technology assisted product verification or affix a label if technology assisted verification if performed. Receives and reviews prescriptions or refill requests. Retrieves the appropriate medication i.e. right drug, strength, and formulation. Identifies and communicates discrepancies and questions to a pharmacist to accurately and safely dispense the patient's medication.Accurately performs pharmaceutical calculations to prepare medications. Utilizes pharmacy equipment to prepare and pack medications.Prepares, reconstitutes, packages and labels medications according to regulations and pharmacy policies and procedures.Determines refill amount, pull, and stocks automated dispensing machines (ADC's).Identifies and pulls expired medications per pharmacy policy.Inventories pharmacy medications/ supplies to maintain adequate stock to dispense medications to patients.Complete documentation required by regulations and pharmacy policies and procedures.Maintain medication security at all times.Performs medroom inspections.Responds to routine inquiries from physicians, nurses and other staff within scope of practice.Identify and promptly submit tickets for equipment and system issues.
