Job Description

Gilead"s mission is to discover, develop and deliver therapies that will improve the lives of patients with life-threatening illnesses worldwide. The Regional Director, Sales HCV, Pacific Northwest is responsible for representing Gilead’s products and services to a defined customer base, generating and growing a sales team focused on consistently achieving or exceeding regional sales targets within a specific geographic area, including but not limited to in-person representation and face-to-face meetings with healthcare practitioners within the assigned region. They focus on training Specialists to establish strong working relationships with healthcare practices to provide timely delivery of disease awareness information, clinical updates on education and healthcare changes. They possess strong analytical, training, and communications skills and a proven record of sales success via multiple award recognition. The Regional Director should have the ability to synthesize various market data sources to guide their team in conjunction with national direction.

This unique opportunity supports the Pacific Northwest including, but not limited to, Washington, Oregon, Northern California.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Exhibits leadership of the region and leadership within the organization by setting a standard of excellence.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to inclusion and diversity efforts.
  • Maintains sound judgment, integrity, and equitable management practices to guide day-to-day activities of a diverse cross-section of individuals.
  • Develops and maintains solid customer relationships with key executives, decision influencers, and decision-makers at major medical centers, clinics, and other accounts.
  • Tracks and reinforces measures of sales force effectiveness to meet corporate sales objectives.
  • Coordinates with leadership across Gilead functions on cross-functional projects.
  • Analyzes, understands and presents scientific/technical details with knowledge of pharmaceutical marketing and sales regulations, guidelines, and policies.
  • Shares knowledge of new product or disease state developments and considerations in product protocols.
  • Provides counseling and coaching to the sales team to enhance selling skills and product knowledge.
  • Recruits, hires, and manages a team of specialists; creates learning plans and provides mentoring.
  • Serves as liaison between home office and region to identify and resolve issues and opportunities.
  • Defines roles, responsibilities, and measurable outcomes for the specialist team; regularly measures success and provides feedback.
  • Represents the company at professional events and promotes products at such events.
  • Utilizes business acumen to analyze industry trends, competitors’ resources, and practices.
  • Leads and coordinates cross-functional projects with broad organizational impact.
  • Demonstrates a track record of success in selling, including technical knowledge, sales techniques, data interpretation, and industry understanding.
  • Communicates business direction and vision to the region.
  • Understands and communicates scientific/technical information respecting pharmaceutical marketing and sales regulations, guidelines, and policies.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal, influencing, and negotiating skills.
  • Addresses human resource management issues; navigates complex people management scenarios.
  • Manages large projects with cross-functional teams and adheres to operational excellence practices for administrative work.
  • Has experience in launching or turning around products.
  • Is viewed as an expert on industry trends and product/disease state knowledge, including pros and cons of product protocols.
  • Represents Gilead’s products to defined customer bases and achieves sales targets; travels as required within the assigned area.
  • Meets onsite visitation requirements of healthcare practitioners, including any travel or screening requirements.
  • Performs essential duties satisfactorily; reasonable accommodations may be provided for disabilities.
  • Ensures compliance with Gilead commercial policies and applicable laws and guidance related to product promotion and information dissemination.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and Twelve Years of Experience OR Master’s Degree and Ten Years of Experience OR Ph.D. and Eight Years of Experience.

  • Ability to travel within the assigned area as required.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.

  • 1-2 years of relevant commercial experience in marketing, sales, or related function.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with ability to set a vision, lead change, and coach others.
  • Strategic thinker with ability to formulate, develop and execute strategy.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to lead, resolve conflicts, and drive consensus across diverse teams.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The salary range for this position is: $205,615.00 - $266,090.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary by role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
