ReStore Sales Lead - San Jose

Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley is seeking a Sales Lead for our San Jose ReStore. The ReStore Retail Sales Lead (RL) primary role is to support systems that create an excellent first and last impression for everyone who visits the ReStore to best drive sales. Their core responsibility is to lead Retail Sales Associates (RA) through consistent demonstration of how to engage and assist customers from internal and external channels and to interface with our donor base while constantly maintaining a safe, efficient, and aesthetically pleasing work environment. The RL will also be responsible for leading volunteers, assisting warehouse associates, and contributing to our positive culture.
Essential Functions of Position:
Lead in the maintenance of and support with the creation of displays on the sales floor to inspire sales and the growth of a robust customer base. Lead and support groups of volunteers in the ongoing operations of the ReStore. Support daily operations through the creation of a compliant break schedule for sales team. Hold Managerial access to POS systems and utilize it as necessary to support the needs of the business In the absence of Store or Operations Manager, oversees the resolving of customer service matters Assists and leads in creation of daily and specific tasks for sales team and volunteers Lead and support groups of volunteers in the ongoing operations of the ReStore. Hold Managerial access to Store Safe and utilize it as necessary to support the needs of the business Assist RA's to properly utilize and complete sales transaction through our Point of Sale system. Create an excellent first/last impression for all ReStore guests through active & genuine engagements. Answer the phone and return voicemails with courtesy and respect. Collect customer information for the Treasure Hunters email, Rewards and Wish lists. Promote and maintain a safe work environment as well as contribute to the development of safe work skills of the RA's. Make sound decisions in the best interest of the business in the absence of Store Manager Understand and adhere to all operational procedures as communicated via Store Leadership. Consistently maintain a professional demeanor Act as 'Manager on Duty' (MOD) when needed. Learn and be able to consistently communicate the vision of the ReStore leadership team. Keep the ReStore clean and organized in addition to making sure all inventory is correctly priced. Assist in loading and unloading merchandise from vehicles. Assist in developing and adhering to criteria for donated materials. Maintains merchandising standards for the entirety of sales floor, especially in furniture and lighting section Provides timely communication to store management of any issues Ensures damages and returns are handled daily according to established company procedure Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Quick learner Selfstarter/Initiative Must possess (or have the ability to learn) strong leadership skills. Excellent communication skills. Demonstrated empathy Strong sense of personal and professional accountability with consideration to customers and RA's in their charge Business acumen rooted in analysis and factbased decision making Excellent customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills. Operate a POS platform with proficiency. Previous experience cashiering/customer service is desirable. Must be able to supervise volunteers with a wide range of skills and abilities. Flexible schedule and willing to work as needed Good computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), eBay, and Craigslist is a plus (not required). Knowledge of fair market values of new and used building materials is a plus (not required). Ability to speak and understand Spanish is a plus (not required).
Working Environment/Physical Requirements: Must have the ability to safely lift 50 lbs., stand, squat, bend, climb in/out of truck multiple times per day. Must be able to stand for (2) 4hour shifts over the course of an 8hour workday with periodic breaks.
