Job Description Description: Portola Paints is seeking a General Manager to oversee day-to-day operations from our North Hollywood flagship showroom. This is a unique opportunity for someone with management-level experience who is sales-driven, visual-focused, and dedicated to creating outstanding customer experiences while growing a loyal community of Portola Paints enthusiasts.
- Build, lead, and coach a high-performing retail team that embodies the Portola brand. - Recruit, train, supervise, and appraise store employees and Assistant Store Manager. - Handle employee discipline and terminations in accordance with company policies. - Schedule, plan, and lead team meetings to ensure all sta? are informed and engaged. - Maintain a professional, inclusive, and inspiring workplace culture. - Maintain a welcoming and inspiring showroom environment that brings the Portola vision to life. - Ensure excellent customer service and professional communication at all times. - Monitor showroom performance metrics, including foot tra?c and conversion rates. - Drive a profitable store that consistently exceeds sales goals and manages profit/loss. - Oversee visual merchandising to highlight and optimize product appeal. - Manage inventory on the sales floor and stockroom to ensure accurate stock levels and sell-through. - Monitor Lankershim stock and coordinate with Saticoy location on inventory transfers, receiving, and SKU accuracy. - Maintain alignment between e-commerce promotions, product launches, and in- store messaging. - Collaborate with the Brand Marketing Team to host inspiring and profitable community events. - Partner with the Dealer Department to plan and support local Dealer marketing events. - Update and maintain employee training programs. - Improve in-store processes and operational standards. - Ensure open communication with store, dealer, and third-party teams. - Stay current with industry trends and best practices to maintain a safe and compliant workplace for employees and customers. - Coordinate with HR consultant when necessary - Coordinate with legal counsel when necessary - Conduct regular meetings with owners/executives re operations and sales status - Oversee order fulfillment/shipping
Requirements: · Bachelor's degree preferred · High School Diploma or GED required · 2+ years in store management, retail management a plus · Proven experience leading and developing teams · Experience in building a positive and professional workplace culture · Self-starter with a results-driven and creative problem-solving mindset · Strong alignment with Portola Paints' mission and values · Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills · Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and be on your feet for extended periods · Ability to read/write English for safety purposes; Bilingual is a plus · Ability to legally drive a personal vehicle for meetings and tasks · Must be flexible to work weekends, holidays, and adapt to a dynamic retail environment · Include specialized knowledge or at least familiarity with painting, home improvement, contracting services, etc.
