Sales and Use Tax Analyst

We are seeking a Sales Tax Analyst with experience in the construction industry to support compliance, reporting, and audit functions across multi-state operations. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong knowledge of indirect taxes, including sales and use tax, and the ability to collaborate with project teams to ensure compliance at the project level.
General Accountabilities
Maintain accurate records and prepare timely reports for management.
Represent the organization in a professional manner to maximize client satisfaction.
Collaborate across departments to address sales tax-related inquiries.
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and procedures.
Provide support for multiple branches across time zones when needed.
Specific Accountabilities
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax filings.
Complete assigned sales tax compliance tasks and reconciliations.
Manage W-9 and exemption certificate requests, including maintaining exemption files.
Research and interpret state and local sales/use tax laws for proper application to materials, services, and project costs.
Load new exemptions into accounting systems and ensure accurate classification.
Support tax audits, including providing documentation and responding to inquiries.
Assist with accounts receivable, invoicing, and other accounting functions as needed.
Document workflows and procedures to support consistency and compliance.
Required Qualifications
Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or 5+ years relevant experience).
Minimum 2 years of sales tax experience.
Intermediate Excel skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior accounting experience in the construction industry.
Familiarity with personal property tax compliance.
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
Experience with Dynamics 365 and Vertex.

Compensation & Benefits
Hourly rate of $32/hr - $45/hr, depending on experience.
