Title: Sales Associate - Capital Equipment

Shift: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Salary: $50,000 - $70,000 Base Salary, plus commission plan. Total compensation potential of $120,000 - $130,000+ dependent on experience and achieving sales goals.

Sales Associate Role:

This individual will serve as a high-impact, business-development focused sales professional responsible for driving the growth of custom steel belt conveyor systems and replacement parts for our client. The role exists to aggressively pursue new capital equipment sales opportunities, reactivate dormant accounts, and build strong customer relationships in heavy industrial markets.

Sales Associate Responsibilities:

  • Aggressively hunt for new business, focusing on lead generation and new account acquisition
  • Utilize industry data, trade associations, and customer referrals to identify sales opportunities
  • Develop new market segments for steel belt conveyor solutions
  • Contact inactive customer accounts to reactivate relationships and determine future sales potential
  • Travel extensively to customer and prospect sites (up to 75%) to build and maintain relationships
  • Collaborate with the in-house engineering team to create detailed and accurate quotes for complex systems
  • Oversee and review quotes prepared by the estimating department to ensure accuracy and competitiveness
  • Present, negotiate, and submit final quotes to customers, clearly communicating project engineering, pricing, and delivery timelines
  • Advise and train external sales representatives, distributors, and dealers on conveyor solutions
  • Serve as the primary face of the organization to both external customers and internal partners

Sales Associate Reporting Relationships:

This role reports directly to the Hiring Manager/Owner and will work closely with the General Manager, Engineering Department, and Estimating Team. This position does not have any direct reports.

About You:

  • Possess a demonstrated record of success selling custom-engineered capital industrial equipment
  • Bring a minimum of three to five years of progressive sales experience, preferably in heavy industry
  • Have experience selling to companies within the steel, metal stamping, aluminum, or forging industries
  • Demonstrate exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Exhibit a strong, passionate work ethic and be comfortable with extensive, proactive hunting for new business
  • Show a high degree of mechanical aptitude to intelligently discuss complex equipment solutions
  • Hold a college degree; some engineering-related training is highly preferred
  • Comfortably use a CRM system and other sales tools to manage pipeline and customer data

Additional Information:

Compensation Details: This position offers a competitive base salary and a commission plan structured to reward new order generation. Commission is paid out at the time an order is received. Annual bonus potential is based on achieving pre-determined sales and bookings goals. Expenses, including mileage, are reimbursed.

Work Environment & Travel: This is a full-time, on-site role in Mentor, Ohio. The position requires a significant amount of travel (50-75%) to customer and prospect locations across a large territory, which includes the Northeast, Midwest, and Southern U.S. Trade show attendance is also required.
