Sales Consultant

The purpose of the Sales Consultant is to play a pivotal role in assisting customers with their agricultural and household needs. With a store knowledge of farm equipment, power equipment, tools, and home essentials, you will provide exceptional customer service and expert advice to ensure a positive shopping experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing excellent customer service by helping potential customers find power equipment products that match their specific applications and needs.
  • Engaging the customer in meaningful conversations to understand their specific needs, preferences, and budget constraints.
  • Assisting customers throughout the retail financing process.
  • Managing the ordering of many types of power equipment.
  • Assisting with receiving, moving, and displaying power equipment products.
  • Following the Indoor Merchandising Guide to ensure that all products are set and maintained to company standards.
  • Conducting power equipment demonstrations when necessary.
  • Assisting customers in locating items within the store and recommending suitable alternatives.
  • Actively listening to customer concerns and providing appropriate resolutions.
  • Collecting customer contact information for follow-up situations.
  • Establishing and maintaining healthy, long-term relationships with customers.
  • Providing expert advice and product knowledge to customers.
  • Utilizing upselling and cross-selling techniques to maximize sales.
  • Promoting exclusive offers and store loyalty program.
  • Processing special orders, operating the POS register, and resolving return issues.
  • Collaborating with team members to achieve sales targets.
  • Participating in training sessions and staying updated on product knowledge.
  • Contributing to visual merchandising efforts.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Participating in cross-training for flexibility in various departments.
  • Actively participating in learning initiatives.
  • Providing friendly, proactive, and professional internal and external support.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualities for Success include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in agriculture or related fields is a plus.
  • Proven experience in a sales or customer service role, preferably in a retail environment.
  • Deep knowledge and passion for agriculture, farm equipment, tools, and home essentials.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Results-driven mindset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Resilience and a willingness to deal with rejection.
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Comfortable navigating computer systems and software.

Physical Requirements include:

  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, push, and/or pull a minimum of 30 pounds repetitively and 31-50 pounds intermittently.
  • Ability to verbally communicate effectively.
  • Must have close visual awareness.
  • Ability to use a ladder and/or pallet jack.
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs multiple times per day.
