Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, results-driven Sales Director to lead and expand our business with off-price retailers TJ Maxx/HomeGoods and Burlington, while also managing and growing secondary accounts. The Sales Director will be responsible for driving sales growth, optimizing product assortment, building strong customer relationships, and ensuring seamless execution of business plans.
The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in consumer products and a proven track record managing accounts within the off-price retail sector. To be successful, this individual must thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and quickly establish strong relationships with customers, buyers, and internal partners by leveraging a transparent communication style, a strong grasp of business operations, and a collaborative mindset that seeks out new opportunities for growth.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute sales strategies to meet and exceed revenue goals for assigned off-price and secondary accounts.
Build and maintain strong relationships with buyers, negotiating pricing, terms, and product assortments aligned with market trends.
Travel as needed to customer headquarters (TJX, Burlington, etc.) for strategic meetings, line reviews, and business updates.
Lead product assortment planning in collaboration with merchandising teams, aligning with consumer trends, seasonal demand, and retailer needs.
Partner with marketing, merchandising, and operations to ensure flawless execution of sales programs, on-time delivery, and optimal in-store/online presentations.
Analyze sales performance and market data to identify growth opportunities, risks, and competitive insights, and implement corrective action when needed.
Use customer feedback and category insights to inform product development, packaging, and merchandising strategies.
Monitor off-price and broader retail trends to identify opportunities for differentiation and innovation.
Provide clear communication and reporting to senior leadership, ensuring alignment with overall company objectives.
Education, Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (MBA a plus).
7+ years of experience in retail sales account management; 3+ years direct off-price retail sector experience.
Experience with kitchen, housewares and broader home categories a plus.
Proven track record of driving profitable growth with major retailers (TJX, Burlington, and other off-price highly preferred).
Strong understanding of consumer products, category management, and retail merchandising.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
Strong analytical abilities, with experience interpreting sales data to drive decision-making.
Understanding of pricing variables, including commodities, duties, tariffs, labor, and freight.
Ability to work collaboratively across departments and lead initiatives with minimal oversight.
Strong organizational and time management skills; thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with advanced sales software and AI-enabled analytics a plus.
Willingness to travel as needed.
