Job Title: Senior Accounting Consultant
Location: Hopkins, MN (Hybrid but must be able to go onsite weekly in Hopkins, MN)
Compensation: $33.65-$43/ hour
Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
We’re partnering with a client in Hopkins on a consulting need for a Senior Accounting Consultant who can roll up their sleeves, take ownership of month-end, and keep the GL running smoothly during a leadership transition. This is a newly created contract role to support the accounting team while a permanent Accounting Manager search is underway.
What you’ll be doing:
- Own the month-end close process with a focus on heavy account reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis.
- Prepare, review, and post entries for inventory, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accruals, intercompany, and other transactions in full compliance with GAAP.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, bank accounts, and subsidiary ledgers—investigating and resolving discrepancies in partnership with other departments.
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Support inventory accounting: reconcile raw materials, WIP, and finished goods; assist with standard cost updates, variance analysis, and inventory roll-forwards.
- Prepare schedules for corporate income tax, sales/use tax, and property tax filings, coordinating with external tax advisors.
- Provide audit support by preparing workpapers, answering inquiries, and ensuring documentation is complete and accurate.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, operations, and supply chain teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Jump in on transactional AP/AR processing as needed to support the team.
- Contribute to ad hoc projects including system upgrades, process streamlining, and special analyses.
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience in heavy month-end close and general ledger accounting.
- Deep understanding of GAAP with the ability to operate independently and make an immediate impact—no hand-holding required.
- Willingness to assist in transactional AP/AR when needed.
- Strong SAP S4/Hana experience (client is in the middle of a system project).
- Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
If you’re an independent, solutions-focused accounting professional who thrives in high-ownership consulting roles, we’d love to connect.
- Competitive Pay: We advocate for strong compensation aligned with your experience
- Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and performance-based incentives
- Career Growth: Many of our consultants convert to full-time hires
- Exclusive Access: Direct connections to hiring managers at top employers
- Flexible Opportunities: Projects tailored to your background and goals
- Dedicated Support: Resume tips, interview prep, and offer negotiations included
