Your Role as Sr. Director, Human Resources
As a member of the People & Culture Leadership Team, the Sr. Director, Human Resources guides and supports the human resources daily functioning, including developing and implementing people-related policies, procedures, and vendor relationships to ensure excellent operational consistency and efficiency. You support the organization's employee base in the development and execution of a human resources strategy, which includes talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, employee relations, performance management and evaluation, HRIS, legal and compliance issues, learning and development, and AmeriCorps members.
As the Sr. Director, Human Resources, you will influence so much of how we engage and support people. As such, you must guide the vision for how we shape a rewarding employee experience and create a people-centered, high-performance culture that accomplishes our valuable mission. This position, in partnership with the People + Culture Leadership Team and organization's Executive Leadership Team, manages the effort to foster the organization's strong culture and increased impact. You must be an experienced HR leader with a proven record of displaying strong people skills, exercising sound independent judgment, solving complex problems, and maintaining confidentiality. You must also excel at working cross-functionally and building relationships with all levels of the organization to identify challenges and opportunities.
The performance of the Sr. Director, Human Resources will be evaluated both on the measurable outcomes of your work and how you ensure that human resources programs and initiatives are effective, efficient, and aligned to the overall organizational needs. In short, the Sr. Director, Human Resources provides strategic support in developing HR policies and practices to achieve the organization's goals.
The Sr. Director of Human Resources is integral to the culture, effectiveness, and impact of College Possible:
Human Resources Operations, including Systems and Infrastructure
- Provides management, oversight, support, and/or execution of day-to-day HR operations to include talent acquisition, employee relations, benefits, compensation, HRIS and compliance for staff and AmeriCorps members. Ensure that all aspects of the HR team and functions are operating seamlessly and at a pace that meets the organizational demand.
- Continuously assesses, maintains, and makes improvements within HR functioning including systems, processes, and workflows.
- Manages and develops the Human Resources and Talent team members, providing alignment to organizational objectives to ensure the Human Resources team provides strong day-to-day support for employees while creating an inviting and cohesive employee experience.
Talent Acquisition
- Provides management, oversight, support, and/or execution of day-to-day Talent Acquisition operations to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations. Secures that all aspects of the Talent Acquisition function are operating seamlessly and at a pace that meets the organizational demand.
- Supports in the development of comprehensive, talent and recruitment practices while strengthening the hiring process (i.e. developing job descriptions, building strategic pipeline sources, elevating, and implementing equitable and competency-based interview techniques/practices, ensuring equitable candidate evaluation processes, and providing positive candidate/new hire experiences.)
- Ensures leaders and hiring managers are supported to adequately determine and fulfill staffing needs in a consistent and timely manner.
- Leads the proper assessment of recruitment trends (internal and external) and refines the Talent Acquisition strategies, processes and systems to meet objectives.
- Leads the proper recruitment branding/marketing practices.
Employee Relations:
- Partners with managers across the organization and provides effective support, coaching, and guidance around employee and AmeriCorps member issues.
- Keeps an active pulse on employee, member, and management concerns and questions.
- Leads complex employee relations issues through to resolution, including full-scale investigations, documentation, and recommendation of appropriate courses of action in compliance with organizational policies and employment law.
- Supports the assessment of current and future organizational needs to identify the most effective ways to support both full-time staff and AmeriCorps members.
- Collaborates with key stakeholders across the organization to develop and integrate workforce planning and analysis, talent acquisition, learning and leadership development, performance management, professional development, succession planning, and rewards.
- Consults with outside legal counsel when needed to actively manage organizational risk.
HR Administration and Compliance:
- Develops and maintains organizational policies and procedures, including updating and communicating changes to the employee handbook; ensure ongoing compliance with employment law on both the state and federal level.
- Manages the HR team in maintaining accurate and timely employee records for full-time staff and AmeriCorps members addressing compliance for the latter group.
- Oversee all employment compliance issues, working closely as necessary with the Executive Leadership Team and legal counsel.
- Oversee external vendors to ensure that compensation, benefits, and other aspects of the organization's personnel infrastructure operate with both exceptional accuracy and a strong customer service orientation.
- Provides oversight to workers compensation, unemployment, and LOA programs.
Compensation Management and Payroll:
- Manages the Payroll and Benefits functions through the HR team related to the employee compensation and benefits programs.
- Reviews and recommends compensation strategies and well-organized and understood procedures, within the organization's philosophies and strategies for new hires, promotions, transfers, and equity/merit adjustments.
- Supervises the timely and accurate processing of bi-weekly payroll and all related functions.
What You Bring
Education
- Must have a bachelor's degree in related business, communication, or HR field.
- Master's degree highly preferred.
- SHRM certification preferred.
Experience
- A minimum of 12 years of relevant and applicable HR experience
- A minimum of 5 years of supervisory and/or leadership experience
