Overview
: We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Sales Manager to join our opening team. The Senior Sales Manager will play a key role in developing and executing sales strategies to maximize revenue, build strong client relationships, and position the Virginia Guesthouse as the premier destination for meetings, events, and accommodations in Charlottesville. Key Responsibilities: Actively prospect, solicit, and close new business across assigned market segments (corporate, group, university, social, and association). Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and community organizations. Achieve and exceed individual and team revenue goals for room nights, meetings, and events. Create and execute targeted sales strategies, including participation in tradeshows, client events, and networking opportunities. Collaborate closely with the Director of Sales & Marketing, revenue management, and catering/conference teams to ensure alignment on pricing, packages, and client satisfaction. Maintain accurate and timely records in the CRM system, including account activity, booking pace, and pipeline reports. Provide leadership and mentorship to junior sales team members, contributing to a culture of excellence and collaboration. Represent the Virginia Guesthouse with professionalism and integrity, ensuring brand standards are met at all times. Qualifications Qualifications: Minimum 3–5 years of hotel/group sales experience; opening or university market experience a plus. Proven record of achieving and exceeding sales goals. Strong negotiation, presentation, and communication skills. Ability to develop long-term client relationships and partnerships. Self-motivated, results-driven, and highly organized. Proficiency in sales systems (Delphi, Opera, or comparable CRM/hotel platforms). Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and travel as needed.
