The purpose of this role is to plan, solicit, and sign group business to meet/exceed revenue/profit goals and manage customer relationships to ensure that all revenue and marketing opportunities are realized. The incumbent is responsible for driving customer loyalty by delivering service and sales excellence throughout each customer's experience. This position will process business correspondence and create contracts and other related booking documentation as required. This position requires excellent business development, strategy, and selling skills, strong communication skills, and a detailed understanding of hotel operations, food and beverage, and planning. This position's main responsibility will be to find and contract new business relationships. This position reports to the Director of Sales.
Responsibilities
Where You'll Make an Impact:
This position is responsible for developing and maintaining an account base. This person must be skilled in maintaining these accounts through sales action plans, specific documentation in Delphi, and clear and concise correspondence. This person will be an established hunter.
This position will also serve as a leader within the Hotel Sales Team. To maintain a positive guest and team member experience, your work habits should always meet and strive to exceed sales team standards for work procedures, dress, grooming, punctuality, and attendance. You should be adaptable to change in your work area and in hotel procedures with a willingness to learn new skills and/or improve existing ones, can solve routine problems that occur on the job, and ask for help whenever you are not sure how to do something.
Skills to Help You Succeed:
Develop and maintain an account base, as designated by Sales Leadership, to achieve revenue goals through proactive sales, prompt response to all inquiries and correspondence from clients, prospects, and lead referrals and follow-up on assigned sales leads
Assisting the Director of Sales in implementing a sales action plan for the development of the designated market segments with or without food and beverage which includes Prospecting calls, outside sales calls, performing site tours, related sales trips, trade show planning, and participation and entertainment.
Execute sales calls, trade shows, and sales trips as designated. Driving and travel will be required.
Maintain accurate, legible records and files to ensure quality service and ensure repeat business
DEPARTMENTAL SUPPORT This position is an Independent Contributor who will work closely with the Director of Sales and act as an additional resource for the Sales Managers for guidance and brainstorming.
Participate in trade shows and community and professional organizations to maintain high visibility and the achievement of sales and revenue goals.
Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned and participate in task forces and committees as requested

Qualifications
Must-Haves: Education: A four-year college degree or equivalent education/experience.
Experience: Minimum of five years of hotel group/conference sales experience.
Requirements:
Exceptional prospecting and negotiation skills
Experience/account knowledge of the Mid-Atlantic Region preferred.
Direct experience with all or some of the following hotel segments is required: Group: Corporate, Association, SMERF, Catering Events
Knowledge of Delphi FDC preferred
Professional written correspondence skills
Must be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate gaming license as mandated by the Maryland Lottery & Gaming Control Agency.
