Position: Sr. Director of Sales, Beauty Department: Sales for Beauty Work Location: Bentonville, AR & Boston, MA: Hybrid (3 days onsite per week) Hybrid Schedule: At Helen of Troy, we embrace a flexible hybrid work model designed to support collaboration and productivity. For roles eligible for hybrid work, our standard schedule includes in-office collaboration from Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. What you will be doing: Reporting to the Vice President of Sales, the Senior Director of Sales is the strategic steward of top-tier customer relationships, leading sales and profit growth across major . retailers including Walmart and Target. This role is all about driving results—through smart strategy, strong partnerships, and a deep understanding of what moves the needle in the beauty category. You’ll lead with vision, challenge the status quo, and collaborate across teams to bring new products to life, execute compelling promotions, and elevate category performance. With a focus on powerhouse brands like Revlon and Hot Tools, and occasional support for emerging brands, you’ll shape the future of our beauty business at retail. This role includes direct ownership of customer sales and profitability, as well as leadership of National Account Managers, Sales Coordinators, independent manufacturer’s reps, and support staff. Expect a rhythm of 30% travel and 70% remote, balancing in-market execution with strategic planning and leadership. Strategic Leadership Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Finance leadership to develop and execute growth strategies that drive distribution, promotions, and profitability.
Lead team operations including hiring, training, and performance management to build a high-performing sales organization.
Optimize inventory through E&O sales strategies that protect margins and minimize market disruption.
Customer Ownership & Growth Own key customer relationships, driving sales, profit, and strategic alignment across accounts like Walmart and Target.
Lead Joint Business Planning (JBP), category reviews, and promotional execution to secure incremental growth.
Leverage tools such as Retail Link DSS, Scintilla, Nielsen, and IRI to manage account performance and market share.
Channel & Category Strategy Develop and implement differentiated channel strategies to unlock long-term growth.
Guide fact-based selling through market insights, brand positioning, and data-driven recommendations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration Build strong internal partnerships with Finance, Brand, Marketing, and Supply Chain to ensure seamless execution.
Provide customer insights to Demand Planning and Supply teams to enhance operational performance.
Team Leadership Inspire and lead your team with a focus on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Encourage cross-functional teamwork and challenge conventional thinking to drive innovation.
Operational Excellence Set and track measurable goals for customer strategies, pivoting quickly when needed to ensure results.
Identify and remove obstacles to success, fostering a culture of agility and performance.
Additional Responsibilities
Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Sales.
Skills needed to be successful in this role: 10+ years of experience leading multi-level teams, including hiring, training, performance management, and change leadership
Proven success in the beauty industry, with expertise across Walmart, Target, and multi-channel retail environments
Skilled in Nielsen, IRI, Retail Link DSS, and Scintilla for market share analysis and account performance tracking
Demonstrated ability to develop strategic trade channel plans in partnership with Marketing, Finance, and Executive leadership
Background in managing direct and indirect sales forces, including manufacturer’s reps and support staff
Strong track record of exceeding goals and thriving in roles with increasing responsibility
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
Skilled in negotiation, marketing strategy, analytics, sales and profit planning, relationship building, coaching, process development, customer knowledge, budgeting, product line reviews, supply chain, forecasting, and category management
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field
10+ years of previous sales and sales management experience calling on major US retail accounts
Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
Preferred Qualifications: MBA
In Massachusetts, the standard base pay range for this role is $164,258.55 - $246,387.82 annually. This base pay range is specific to Massachusetts and may not be applicable to other locations. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to location, experience, skill level, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
