Responsibilities
Monitor legislative and regulatory changes in sales and use tax laws; assess and implement changes to compliance processes needed to maintain compliance.
Maintain exemption certificates in Vertex and research and provide guidance to internal employees and independent reps on exemption certificate requirements.
Oversee monthly tax account reconciliations and journal entries. Prepare daily cash reconciliations on a limited basis for Treasury and serve as back-up for wires and certain foreign payments.
Manage monthly sales and tax data from Oracle and data received from various non-Oracle product lines and provide to third party consultants for tax return preparation.
Develop and implement process improvements to mitigate risks and improve compliance processes.
Assist with tax audits, research, and special projects. Other projects as necessary.
Typical/expected % of overnight travel: None to minimal.
Qualifications Experience: 3-5 years of prior experience in sales and use tax compliance in a multi-state environment.
Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a business-related field.
Technical Skills: Solid understanding of sales tax principles, including nexus, exemptions, and regulatory compliance, with proven application in complex scenarios. Proficiency in tax software (e.g., Vertex) and accounting systems. Preferred: Oracle and Vertex.
Drive: Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, demonstrated ability to identify and resolve compliance issues, streamline processes, and implement solutions while working under tight deadlines. Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Great Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate tax information in both verbal and written forms.

Our Finance team combines traditional financial planning, analysis and accounting with collaborative business decision-making and strategy, directly supporting leadership in Marketing, Sales, Digital & Operations. Team members are expected to analyze data and provide recommendations across our specialized product lines including Yearbooks, Class Rings, Graduation Products and Professional Sports. Through the utilization of best-in-class technical software, such as Workday Adaptive Planning, Incorta, SAP BPC, Oracle, Salesforce, & the Microsoft Suite, you will get to play a critical role in determining financial solutions that steer our business. Our Finance team is comprised of several subgroups, including decision support, FP&A, operations and corporate, but our success is directly related to a culture of cross-team collaboration.
