General Job Description

The Warehouse Sales Associate will work collectively with the Receiving Department, Order Department and Dispatch Department. The day to day expectation will be that they will deliver an outstanding level of customer service to both retail and contracting sales customers. This requires the applicant to posses an ability to be presentable, upbeat, courteous and fast-paced. A background in lumber, building materials, or construction is preferred as is the ability to drive a fork lift and/or other transportation vehicles requiring special licensing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Service Excellence:

Actively seek out customers within the lumber yard

Offer a friendly greeting, smile and make eye contact with customers

Show enthusiasm with the customer

Handle several customers at once when necessary

Thank customers for shopping with MPBS

Product Knowledge:

Answer questions about lumber and building materials

Assist customers with special order pick-up

Continue to build upon and learn product knowledge

Discuss available options (good, better, best)

Building Orders and Taking Direction

Execute daily stock tasks including building orders, stocking product and offloading trucks

Be open to direction, multitasking and handling heavy workloads with professional efficiency

Assist with warehouse upkeep, presentation and cleanliness

Builds Personal skills and Knowledge:

Learn at least one new thing each day

Proactively seek knowledge on all products and services

Maintain advanced knowledge of products in the lumber yard

Builds Customer skills and Knowledge:

Observe and learn from others associates who work well with our customers

Continues to look for ways to make the customers' shopping experience better than the competition

Maintain and follows all safety policies and procedures:

Behave consistently in a safe and reasonable manner when piloting company vehicles on company property

Act as a spotter or lifting assistant when required

Take action if other associates are acting in an unsafe manner

Follows all other policies and procedures:

Takes action to reduce product shrink

Treat all associates and customers with the respect while keeping to our company's goals, mission and philosophy

Physical Job Requirements

Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving items

Required to lift up to 75lbs without assistance

Respond to radio calls and customer service calls

Required to be able to respond to customer service calls, personal radio pages and general information announcements

Moving and standing

Required to move around the store to assist customers

Identifying and reading sales orders, picking tickets, product labels and UPC labels

Required to recognize, identify and use merchandise

Minimum Qualifications

High School degree or equivalent

Pass drug test

Pass background check

Be able to work a flexible schedule
