Position SummaryThe Business Development Manager (BDM) plays a pivotal role in driving the strategic growth of B2 Constructors by identifying and securing new business opportunities across the public and private sectors. This role extends beyond traditional sales functions, encompassing long-term business strategy development, client relationship management, and market positioning. The BDM will cultivate partnerships with key industry professionals, including architects, engineers, owners, developers, and owners' representatives, to establish B2 Constructors as a trusted leader in commercial construction.Key Responsibilities:1. Lead Generation and Business AcquisitionIdentify and pursue business opportunities in federal, state, and local government sectors, as well as private industryUtilize SAM.gov for federal project identification and ConstructConnect for state, local, and private sector leads.Build and maintain strong relationships with architects, engineers, owners, and owners' representatives to position B2 Constructors as a trusted partner.Develop and manage a pipeline of leads and engage with clients to generate new business opportunities while focusing on exceeding monthly and quarterly sales objectives.2. Market Intelligence and Industry EngagementLeverage expertise in commercial construction to engage confidently with industry professionals and decision-makers.Monitor market trends, industry best practices, and project lifecycles to position B2 Constructors competitively.Keep abreast of developments in the construction sector, including regulatory changes, emerging technologies, and market shifts.3. Market Research and Strategic PlanningSource and analyze construction industry data to identify market trends, growth sectors, and potential new opportunities.Present findings and recommendations to senior management, helping align business development strategies with the company's long-term goals.Monitor real estate trends and competitive activity to strategically position B2 Constructors in the market.4. Cross-Functional Collaboration and Partnership DevelopmentWork closely with the Estimating Manager to ensure seamless transitions from lead generation to proposal development.Collaborate with internal teams, including estimating, project management, and marketing, to ensure alignment between client needs and company capabilities.Build and maintain strategic partnerships with subcontractors, vendors, and other industry professionals.5. Client Relationship ManagementServe as clients' primary point of contact during the pre-construction phase and continue managing the relationship through project completion.Conduct post-project follow-ups to assess client satisfaction, address concerns, and explore future business opportunities.6). Sales Strategy and Business Development BudgetsDevelop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve business development goals and revenue targets.Manage business development budgets efficiently, ensuring resources are used effectively to support growth.Provide regular reports on business development activities, pipeline status, and progress toward sales and strategic goals.7. Social Media and Marketing CollaborationManage the company's social media presence to enhance business development efforts and promote company services.Collaborate with the marketing team to create and distribute promotional materials that support business development initiatives.Contract Negotiation and Closing DealsLead negotiations with clients to secure favorable terms and ensure all contracts align with company goals.Ensure the legal and financial teams review all contracts before finalizing agreements.8. Trade Show RepresentationAttend trade shows to represent B2, join industry-specific groups, organizations, and networks, and represent the company as relationships are established and fostered.Requirements1. Education & ExperienceA bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field is preferred but not required with equivalent experience.Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in the commercial construction industry, with 5+ years in business development or a client-facing role.Proven ability to engage and build relationships with architects, engineers, owners, and owners' representatives in the construction sector.Demonstrated success in generating leads, acquiring new clients, and managing long-term relationships in both public and private sectors.Experience working with SAM.gov and ConstructConnect or Dodge platforms to identify project opportunities.Experience negotiating contracts, managing expectations, and ensuring client satisfaction.2. Technical & Software SkillsExcellent relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills.Ability to lead client presentations and confidently discuss market trends, project scopes, and business strategies with key stakeholders.Proficiency in CRM systems, bid-tracking platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.3.
